What is FAB-DIS?
FAB-DIS is a structured model for exchanging product data between manufacturers and distributors. FAB and DIS are not two separate files to compare. With CatalogInspect, the comparison covers the old and new editions of a catalogue from the same manufacturer.
Why are there several FAB-DIS versions?
The model evolves to adapt its structure and rules to product data exchange needs. Migrating between versions changes the data format; comparing editions identifies what has changed in a catalogue. CatalogInspect covers two editions that already use version 3.0.
Which files can I compare?
Two FAB-DIS 3.0 Excel .xlsx workbooks from the same manufacturer, with a comparable scope and product references that allow the two editions to be matched.
Can German or BMEcat catalogues be compared?
The comparison specialises in FAB-DIS 3.0. BMEcat, PDFs and matching catalogues from different manufacturers are outside its scope. The interface language does not change the data model being compared.
Is a price increase an error?
No. It may be intentional. Review the unit, pricing basis, packaging and effective date before deciding to use a value. The report does not provide your negotiated terms or your margin.
Has a missing product reference been discontinued?
Not necessarily. A narrower range, a renamed product reference or an incomplete file may also explain its absence. The report records the difference; your team and the manufacturer confirm its interpretation.
Does CatalogInspect correct the file or my ERP?
The report and its exports help you examine differences. Your sources, PIM and ERP remain under your control.
Does CatalogInspect provide FAB-DIS compliance approval?
No. The official check is handled by Easy-Check. CatalogInspect claims no accreditation, certification or official partnership.
What does the subscription include?
3 tokens / month : €29 excl. VAT / month · 10 tokens / month : €59 excl. VAT / month · 40 tokens / month : €149 excl. VAT / month. Annual billing reduces the price by 50%, with one payment for twelve months. One token covers a complete comparison, including the report and exports. Tokens renew monthly and do not roll over.
Where can I find the official documentation?
The fabdis.fr website publishes the guide, model documentation and validation information. CatalogInspect articles link to the official sources relevant to each topic.
